Resource: The Commonwealth Framework for responding to foreign interference
The espionage, foreign interference, sabotage and theft of trade secrets offences in the Criminal Code Act 1995 (Cth) are described by government as one part of a broader strategy to combat such activities by foreign principals. The operation and effectiveness of that broader strategy is not within the scope of the INSLM review of the offences; however, it does provide context to the operation of the offences.
This document summarises and provides references to statements and resources that describe the broader government strategy. While every effort has been made to summarise initiatives accurately, this is only intended to be a summary. Regard should be had to the original resources. This document was produced in April 2025 and policies and initiatives may have changed after this document was compiled.
